Welcome to Gutsy Peer Support

Crohn’s and Colitis Canada is proud to introduce Gutsy Peer Support, a peer-to-peer support program for Canadians affected by Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. This program features a private online chat space where experienced individuals (mentors) who are living with or support dependants with Crohn’s and colitis can provide support to newly diagnosed individuals or caregivers of dependants (mentees) who have these diseases.

The key goals of the Gutsy Peer Support program are to provide:

  • one-on-one advice on how to deal with aspects of everyday living with Crohn’s and colitis such as work, school, relationships, stress/anxiety, and travel
  • emotional support (does not include providing therapeutic/ treatment/medical advice).

How does it work?

Interested individuals should complete our "Request a Mentor" form below. Should a suitable mentor be available, Crohn's and Colitis Canada will notify you of a match and will send you a link to your own private on-line chat page, where you can begin communicating with your mentor. All of our Gutsy Peer Support mentors are experienced volunteers who have gone through a rigorous vetting process and specialized training.

This program would not be possible without the generous support of Janssen Inc.
